Meet your coach

Hi, I’m Mindy and I love people, especially young people!

One of my missions in life is to help young people understand how their thoughts and feelings work so they can live a life they love. And that’s why I’m here!

I believe everyone has great potential inside of them, but sometimes it can feel trapped or lost inside. What we really need are tools that help us fully realize it.

My Story

Why our thoughts matter

As a young person, I felt very lost. I felt alone and full of shame as I battled a painful eating disorder. It was relentless throughout high school. I did a good job of hiding it, and you might not have even known I was struggling. Can you relate? Do you have a dragon you are battling and no one knows about it?

I continued limping along, got married to an amazing man, and had four beautiful children, but my eating disorder—my secret dragon—although different than before, kept growing, creating misbeliefs and thoughts in my mind that wouldn’t let go.

Until one day, I found a mentor with some tools—“thought tools”—that changed everything! I slowly gained knowledge. I was starving for it. I learned that my thoughts were optional, and they always created my results. I learned I wasn’t responsible for anyone else’s happiness. I learned that my thoughts were EVERYTHING, so I needed to really understand them.

I tentatively used that knowledge to take some wobbly action, and then, as time passed, more confident action.

The clouds started to part. I gained a “sword” and courage, and I started facing my dragons instead of hiding. The battle was not easy, but I am happy to say that I came out victorious!

Now, all these years later, I continue to use these tools every day, and I love every minute of my life!

As this was all happening, I started to learn deeply about the Hero’s Journey in literature and how we are heroes on a journey, just like Harry Potter, Frodo, and Katniss.

As I paused in quiet moments to think about my growth and the idea of the Hero’s Journey, I realized that I had to give back. I realized that I was a hero who had returned with newfound treasure.

And what do heroes do with their treasure? They share it! That’s when they become mentors on another’s journey. Suddenly, my mission was very clear!

I have spent the last eight years working closely with teenagers, and I have fallen in love with them! They are the best! I love how their minds work!

And honestly, I wish young Mindy had the tools that I have now. So there was only one thing to do...start a youth coaching program: Find the Joy.

So here we are! That is why I am here: to share the treasure of knowledge that I found with young people.

“The treasure I brought home was a set of thought tools and a mission to share them.”
My Coaching Philosophy

I’m not here to tell you who to become.

I believe that you have greatness inside of you! But sometimes it can feel blocked. My role is to help you become more curious about your thoughts, understand your emotions, and intentionally choose how you want to move forward.

Coaching isn’t about pretending everything is positive. In fact, we need to experience the negative emotions just as much as the positive ones. It’s about learning that you can experience hard things without losing yourself. And that you can always find your way back to joy.

My Foundation

I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I have a deep testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My faith is central to who I am and shapes how I see people, growth, agency, and purpose. It naturally influences the way I live and coach. I welcome young people and families from many different backgrounds and will always respect your beliefs. At the same time, I want to be open about the perspective I bring so your family can decide whether I’m the right coach for you.

I’m continually learning, growing, and practicing the same tools I teach.

“

“I started life coaching with Mindy at a mental and emotional low. I wanted to feel peace and hope, with no idea how to get there. Since then, I feel that I have grown so much—specifically in the way I manage my mind. Mindy is a mind-managing master and is helping me become the same! I’m so grateful for how intently she listens and notices patterns in my thoughts that I can’t see. I can absolutely say I am a happier, more confident, and more peaceful person. And when I don’t feel that way, I know how to manage my emotions in those moments. Being coached by Mindy has felt comforting and empowering. She enters coaching with zero judgment and total joy and excitement for you and your life. If you’re feeling lost or stuck, Mindy is your person for helping you navigate that!”
